We all love the Moomins, don’t we? We have happy news for all friends of the Moomins, as the only Moomin Museum in the world will be opened in Tampere Hall on the 17th of June 2017! The Moomin Museum will offer a unique collection of Moomin art, from miniature tableaux to original drawings, by the Moomins’ mother, Tove Jansson. The latest news from the Moomin Museum and the link for group reservations can be found at moominmuseum.com

Leading up to the opening of the new Moomin Museum, the visitors of Tampere Hall can stop by the new Moomin Museum Reading Library and the ‘Making Of’ exhibition in the Winter Garden of Tampere Hall, open until 8 May 2017. Amidst the snowflakes, in a wintery atmosphere you can explore the scenes of the Moomin Museum. The 12 original real art transportation crates each contain their own fascinating adventures. By watching the videos you can see for example how the exhibition architect restores the dark pond of the Moominpappa’s Memoirs tableau.

The Making Of exhibition is open until 8 May 2017: weekdays 9am to 6pm, and during other events at Tampere Hall.

Tampere goes nuts over the Beatles

Yes, we are aware that rocking to the beats of the Beatles in dark and wintery Finland may sound a bit odd. Nevertheless, the annual Tampere Beatles Happening in Tampere Hall will fill our seats in April for the eighth time already.

This year, for the first time, the happening will be a three-day event, and now VIP event passes will also be available for those who wish to make their festival even more colourful.

There will be dancing, seminars and a more extensive selection of concerts. Even though the main focus is still on Liverpool and the 60s spirit, there will also be shows other than the Beatles tributes at the happening. For instance the repertoire of the band Pulse – The Finnish Tribute to Pink Floyd will consist of the entire The Dark Side of The Moon album.

‘We wanted to extend the theme of the Tampere Beatles happening. The Pink Floyd concert on Sunday will increase the value of the festival and certainly expand the audience base’, says producer Mari Niskanen from Tampere Hall.

For instance Maestro, opened this fall, is a 230-seated auditorium with a splendid vista through a wall-wide window to the neighboring Sorsapuisto Park. Our other new venues are called Duetto 1 + 2 and Riffi. The technology in these venues is modern, the spaces are adjustable and the renewed restaurant services ensure that the conference and congress visitors will leave with a delicious taste in their mouths.
